How credits work

Updated August 2026 ยท 4 min read

Every AI response in Orvoq โ€” from a quick question to an agent generating a full report โ€” uses credits. Credits are one simple currency that works the same way no matter which AI model answers, so you don't have to think about five different provider price sheets.

The basics

100 credits = $1. Each plan includes a one-time credit grant when you first sign up, shared across everyone in your workspace:

PlanIncluded creditsRoughly
Free500 (one-time)~250 messages
Team1,000 (one-time)~500 messages
Business1,500 (one-time)~750 messages

These credits are granted once when you sign up โ€” they don't renew each month. When they run out, you can purchase more credits (Team & Business) or connect your own provider API keys under Settings โ†’ AI Providers to keep going. Purchased credits also expire at the end of the billing cycle and don't roll over.

Why some messages cost more than others

Not all AI models cost the same to run. A quick response from a lighter, faster model uses fewer credits than a longer, more complex response from a top-tier model like Claude Opus. You'll see this reflected directly in the model picker โ€” before you send a message, you can see roughly how many messages you have left at your current model's rate.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip:if you're running low on credits, switching to a lighter model for routine questions stretches your balance further โ€” save the heaviest models for the work that actually needs them.

What happens if you run out

On paid plans, Orvoq automatically steps down to a more efficient model rather than interrupting your work โ€” you'll see a notice, but nothing breaks mid-task. If you'd rather top up instead, you can buy additional credits any time from Workspace Settings โ†’ Billing, and turn on auto-recharge so this never comes up again.

On the Free plan, once your one-time 500 credits are used up, new AI responses on the platform key pause. Free doesn't support buying extra credits โ€” to keep going, either connect your own provider API keys under Settings โ†’ AI Providers(then you're billed by the provider directly, not in credits) or upgrade to a paid plan.

Seeing exactly what you've used

  • Every AI response shows its own credit cost if you hover over it โ€” e.g. โ€œ1.8 credits (2.1K in / 480 out).โ€
  • Workspace admins can see full usage broken down by person, session, and model under Workspace Settings โ†’ Billing โ†’ Usage.
